Fixups: Cropping, Brightness-Contrast, Hue-Saturation, Colour Balance. The GIMP
--
Sometimes I wonder if I'm ruining images when I fix them up for display on my deviantART and the internet, and I'm pretty sure that I overdone it to the point of ruin on this one. Really, I feel that, somewhere, somehow, something could be changed to make this photograph better; I just have no idea where to start. I'm encouraging advanced critique on this one in the hope someone will point the way.
That aside, I had the idea for this after I found the original photo (which was taken randomly) in the folder where I dump my camera's memory card's contents to. Looking at the photo, I somehow feel that the reflection of the sun's rays on the station's glass facade is like a reflection of hope, and the dark forbidding skies overhead a reflection of the trying times we are in today. Taken together, the whole scene seems to be telling us to keep our hopes alive, even under these tough times we live in today. I cropped the original photo and tried to bring out the contrast between the shining glass facade and the dark skies in an effort to emphasise the message I am trying to convey here. I'm not sure whether I did that though, because - just as I mentioned earlier - I felt I really overdid it as to somehow ruin the feel of things. This, I feel, could really have been done better.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
